From September through May, Worship begins at 10:45 am and runs about 1 hour and 15 minutes. During the summer months (June, July, and August), Worship begins at 10:00 am. We also offer Sunday School from September through May. Classes meet at 9:30am.
There is a small parking lot accessible from the alley behind the church, as well as ample street parking. You can enter the church from the alley or through the main door that faces the corner of Claremont and 106th St. Unfortunately, the building is not handicap accessible. We really wish it were! If you have trouble walking, please feel free to use one of the handicap parking spaces at the back of the church and enter through the alley door, where there are a few steps up to the main level. If the short sections of stairs prevent you from joining us in person, we look forward to worshipping together with you online.
We welcome you to wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. For some folks at our church, that means dressing up, and for others, it means jeans or shorts and a t-shirt. Any style of dress is welcomed here.
Unfortunately, no. During the summer months we start worship at 10:00 am, when the temperature is cooler. We may also move to the Fellowship Hall in the basement to avoid the heat. When we do meet in the sanctuary, we open windows and use large fans to ensure it is comfortable. If the summer heat prevents you from worshipping in person, we hope you are able to join us online.
Our Sunday service is largely traditional, mixed with some contemporary elements. You may hear a Bach prelude on the organ and sing both hymns and contemporary worship songs. We have a more structured service, with a printed order of worship, but do not follow a strict liturgy. You are welcome to worship however feels most comfortable - by sitting or standing, silently meditating or clapping and shouting “Amen!” and anything in between. Our services are streamed live on facebook and are uploaded later to YouTube. During the service, the scripture readings and song lyrics are posted in the chat. Recordings are posted after the fact, so you can view any of our services at whatever time is most convenient for you. Links to past worship services can be found under the Videos section. Past sermons can be found in the Sermons section.
Beverly celebrates communion on the first Sunday of each month. We practice open communion, which means that anyone who believes in Jesus can participate. We leave it up to individual families to determine the age when their children should partake in communion. Wherever you are in your walk with Jesus, you are welcome at the Table.
We welcome children into worship and have activity packets available for them to use during the service. We provide childcare on an as-needed basis. Simply speak to one of our members for more information. You are also welcome to keep your infant or toddler with you. We are comfortable with crying babies, restless children, and families who choose to step out during the service.
Prayer of the Day is posted on our facebook page several times each week and can be found in the Pray section.
Coffee Break meets via Facebook Live at 10:20 am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, providing a short time for scripture, reflection, and prayer. It is posted after the fact so you can view it whenever it is most convenient for you.
